Addressing a provincial cabinet meeting, Afridi questioned the purpose of closing routes and asked whether there was an attempt to repeat a tragedy similar to that of East Pakistan.
The chief minister alleged that plainclothes personnel had been targeting members, organisational office-bearers and elected representatives of his party over the past three to four days.
He claimed that an assassination attempt and an attempt to abduct Communications and Works Minister Shakeel Khan had been made but failed.
Afridi also alleged that plainclothes personnel visited the residence of Irrigation Minister Riaz Khan and that party workers and elected representatives in Dera Ismail Khan and other districts were facing similar treatment.
He further claimed that Mardan MNA Fazal Khan had been abducted and that unidentified people had raided the residence of Fakhar Jahan.
The chief minister said the treatment of provincial ministers and elected representatives was unacceptable and questioned how ordinary citizens could feel secure if members of the provincial cabinet were not safe.
Afridi also referred to recent statements attributed to Rana Sanaullah and Maryam Nawaz, saying such remarks had increased concerns in the province.
He said if all routes to and from KP were closed, it would raise questions about the objective of isolating the province from the rest of the country.
Afridi asked whether a conspiracy was being carried out and whether anyone was attempting to repeat the events that led to the separation of East Pakistan.
He said Pakistan belonged to everyone and warned against any attempt to divide the country or separate KP from Pakistan.
The chief minister also alleged that plainclothes personnel were intimidating bureaucrats, police officials, deputy commissioners and district police officers. He urged officials not to follow any unlawful orders.
Afridi maintained that peaceful protest was a constitutional and legal right and said his government and party would continue their peaceful struggle.
His remarks come amid heightened political tensions and PTI preparations for further protest activity. Recent reports have also documented road closures and disruptions during PTI-related political activity in different parts of the country.
