According to sources, Rizwan’s absence from domestic cricket was not due to a fitness test but an ongoing inquiry. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has also barred Rizwan from practising at the National Cricket Academy (NCA).
Sources said Rizwan had joined his department, SNGPL, in Islamabad. In the absence of Shan Masood, Rizwan was asked by the department to captain the team. He also participated in the department’s practice session and team meeting.
Sources said the PCB contacted the SNGPL management during this period and conveyed that an inquiry was underway and Rizwan should be sent back. The department management subsequently informed Rizwan about the PCB’s instructions.
According to sources, SNGPL management was ready to conduct Rizwan’s fitness test immediately.
After returning to Lahore, Rizwan contacted the PCB regarding practice at the National Cricket Academy. However, he was denied permission to practise at the NCA.
Sources said no player returning from the England tour had undergone a fitness test by their respective department for the President’s Trophy. Mohammad Rizwan is currently practising in his hometown, Peshawar.
